2009 COMPLETE & 2010 PREVIEW

The 2009 Racing season is over and the return of the 18d was a success. The team's expectations were over met and the 18d almost had the best season of all time. There were 9 rain outs this year, so who knows what other success the team might have experienced. The bottom line is the Dietz Racing Team is glad to be back and look forward to the many seasons ahead. Next year, the 2010 season will feature a fresh new 18d and the next generation of Dietz Racing in the number 86. Chase Dietz, son of Tim's uncle will be piloting a Probe Chassis for his rookie season. It should make for a fun filled year. The entire Dietz Racing Team and Family is very excited about fielding two cars next year. A big thanks goes out to all of our sponsors and fans for all of their support this season.

7TH AT THE GOBRECHT MEMORIAL

Finally, clear skies were on tap Saturday afternoon at Trail-Way Speedway after 4 straight weeks of rain. This week was the $1000 to win, Kevin Gobrecht Memorial race. This big race brought 46 cars to the last micro sprint event of 2009 at the big TW. The Kevin Gobrecht Memorial has always been one of Tim’s favorite races and his win in 2004 was his most memorable racing moment to date. This year, the race format was different from years past. A partial Sprint Bandit format was used where each driver would run 2 heat races and would receive passing points and finishing points. The C, B and A Mains would be lined up according to the drivers with the least points to the drivers with the most points. In the A main, 25 total drivers would race 50 laps for the $1000 top prize.

In the heat racing, Dietz lined up in the 4th spot in the third heat race and drove the "Top Shelf" to a strong 2nd place finish. In the second round of heats, Tim lined up 8th in the seventh heat and was as high as 5th place at one point, but a little to high on lap seven and slipped back to a 7th at the cross flags.

With the total points that the Dietz Racing team accumulated, the 18d would start in the 16th spot in the A main. The good thing was that we directly made the A main, but from the 16th starting spot there would be some serious ground to make up to make it to the front of the pack. At the drop of the green, Tim hit up the "Top Shelf" and started operation pick-off. Lap after lap, Dietz would continue to pass cars and move up in the field. After 49 non-stop laps, the 18d was up to 7th and with one lap remaining time was just about out. On the final lap, Tim made another attempt to move up but simply ran out of track and settled for a 7th place finish.

"We had a really good night for where we started" said Tim after the race in the pits. "I can't complain in anyway, especially with the type of racers that were here tonight. We've also had a great 2009 season and I'm sad to see it come to an end. There are some more races at other tracks on our schedule, but we're not sure if I'll be racing or not. This car now belongs to next generation of Dietz Racing. Chase Dietz will be behind the wheel of this car next year and we'll be getting a new one for us. Chase most likely will run this car the remainder of the year to prep for his 2010 Rookie Year. The entire Dietz Racing Team and Family is very excited about fielding two cars next year. A big thanks goes out to all of our sponsors and fans for all of their support this season.".

GOBRECHT MEMORIAL POSTPONED

Rain, Rain, Rain....swamped pits and slimy track so no racing at TW for the 4th straight week. We even tried two days in a row and still no racing. Tim and company will give the $1000 to win, Kevin Gobrecht Memorial race another try October 3rd with a rain date of the 4th. This big race that usually draws 50+ cars will be the last race on the Trail-way racing schedule for 2009. The Kevin Gobrecht Memorial is one of Tim’s favorite races and his win in 2004 was his most memorable racing moment to date. Come out and see if the 18d can do it again. Gates open at 3 PM and racing at 6 PM. See you at the track.

LOST OPPORTUNITIES

Once again, heavy rain showers all day Friday and constant showers on Saturday washed out racing at Trail-way Speedway. This rain out though was a hard one to swallow. This weekends race marked the 3rd straight points race that Trail-way Speedway pulled the plug on. Four weeks ago, the Dietz Racing Team had their worst race of the season and fell from a solid 1st place to a close 2nd place in the 2009 Championship Point Standings. Nine total points was the difference. Being in this position before, Tim and the team knew that they could regain the lead before the season ended. With 3 races left, there was plently of time and opportunities to make this happen. Only one problem could stand in the their way and that was if the track never opened its gates. Impossible right? The chances of this happening are probably one in a million. Well, the impossible and totally unthinkable happened. All three final points races were canceled due to rain and no raindates were given. All chances of taking the 2009 title was literally washed down the drain.

The bummed out team decided to keep their heads high and as they did the last rain out they headed for Shippensburg Speedway since Ship and many of the other area tracks always make an effort to hold their programs regardless of the rain. This time though, once the team arrived the rains returned and washed out the racing at Ship also. At that point, Dietz and company headed home for the night and relaxed with some coldies, sauce burgers, college football and Nascar.

RAINED OUT

Heavy rain showers on Friday night washed out the racing on Saturday night at Trail-way Speedway. That leaves us with 3 more weeks of racing before we close the door on the 2009 season.

WELCOME BK FLANARY PLUMBING

Tim and the Dietz Racing Team would like to welcome BK Flanary Plumbing to the team. BK Flanary Plumbing is located in New Oxford, PA and proudly serves all the surrounding communites. Call them today to make an appointment at 717-528-4236. As everyone knows sponsors are very important and we'd like to take this time to thank BK Flanary Plumbing for their 2009 support. The Dietz Racing Team hopes that this relationship can continue for years to come.

ON THE FLIP SIDE

Tim and the short staffed Dietz Racing Team checked into the TW on Saturday night to maintain their points lead, but on this night all that could go wrong actually did. The motor that has been working so well in the 18d decided that it had seen enough and went up in smoke during warm-ups. With the limited amount of time left before heats started the team was forced to look for other options than changing motors. Fellow family member and racer Shawn Seifert offered his car to Tim to help maintain the 18d's point lead. Tim lined up in the 8th spot in heat race #1 and drove the car down low in turns one and two and drove his right rear tire over another cars front left and it sent Tim on a wild flipping ride. The borrowed car was now no longer driveable and into the pits it was towed. He was credited with 7th place and would advance to the A-main since there was only 21 cars there in the night. The question now was, with one blown motor and another destroyed car now what options are available? Another fellow racer and close friend of the family named Shelby Rowles offered his car to Tim to drive in the A-main. Dietz accepted and took it easy this time. From the 19th starting spot Dietz drove safely to a 12th place finish on the night.

After the race in the pits, Tim said..."This was the worse night of racing I think I ever had. I'd like to thank Shawn and Shelby for giving me the opportunity to use their equipment. I just feel really bad to be put in that situation, and I even feel worse that we tore up Shawn's car. I'm very sore after the flip I took and I'm also very sore about the fact that we lost our point lead. We will rebuild our car and Shawn's car this week though and we will be back next week ready to take over 1st place in points once again. We're all very confident that we can win this championship."

SO CLOSE

Tim and the Dietz Racing Team checked into the TW on Saturday night for the return of points racing. Tim lined up in the 8th spot in heat race #2 and drove the car to the second spot and looked for the lead several times, but ran out of laps. Making the invert, Tim would start in his standard 12th starting position for the A-main. At the drop of the green flag, Tim took it to his famous top shelf, and quickly went from 12th to 4th in one lap. In the next 6 green flag laps, Dietz went high and low and progressed to the 2nd spot and was looking for the lead when the red flag came out on lap 7. On the restart, Tim was all over the family related #1 car and continued to make attempts at the pass for the lead. Thirteen laps the close battle went and everytime the 18d would gain ground and look to pass the door just wasn't there. At the the flagstand Tim would finish in a extremely close 2nd place.

After the race in the pits, Tim said..."Man, I really wanted to win that race. Everytime I gained ground and was looking for the pass, I'd miss my mark just enough to keep us from pushing to issue. We made some changes this week and the car was awesome and right where we needed it to be, but we were just really even with Shawn. He ran a great race, and all of us are happy for him. We'll give it another try next week."

TRIAL AND ERROR

Tim and the Dietz Racing Team checked into Trail-way Speedway on Saturday night for the 4th attempt at the $1000 to win Pro Series Race. The Pro Series run multiple events all year long at many differnent tracks and crown a champion that gains the most points overall at the end of the season. The series uses a bandit style format for each race to determine the A-main starting line-up. Each driver races in 2 heat races and is given points for their finishing position and points for all the cars they pass in the process. Tim due to the pill draw lined up in the 2nd spot in heat race #2 and drove the car to the front in one short lap and won at the finish line 8 laps later. In the second round of heats, Tim lined up in the 9th spot in heat race #6 according to the invert rule. After 8 hard laps, Tim managed to work his way up to the 6th spot at the finish line. Totaling both races finishes and passes, Tim qualified for the 6th position for the A-main. At the drop of the green flag, Tim headed to the high side, but a four car congestion in front of him called for him to slam on the brakes and caused his 18d to go for a spin. Back to the rear 24th position Tim headed for the restart and he had nowhere to go but forward. Lap after lap Dietz started picking cars off left and right and was up to the 12th spot on lap 17 when the caution came out. At first the team thought that the caution would benefit Tim, but after some close calls on a few laps later they wished that the caution would have never been displayed. By lap 25 Dietz had lost some momentum and fell back to the 14th spot at the checkered flags.

After the race in the pits, Tim said..."We ran really good in our heat races and got ourselves a great starting spot in the feature, but I lost my head a few times and it cost us a few positions. Without that lap 17 caution I'm sure we would have made it to the top 10 and I would have been very happy with that. We tried some new things tonight and we documented what those changes did and trial and error nights are always good to have. We plan to make a few changes this week in the garage and we'll be back on top of our game next week when points racing returns."

RAINED OUT

Tim and the Dietz Racing Team rolled into Trail-way Speedway on Saturday afternoon with the 18d and with a ton of determination to return to victory lane. When warm-up sessions were called to the track, the rain showers appeared. On and off for 30 minutes the showers continued and with another storm on the radar the track officials were forced to cancel the evenings program.

MONDAY, JULY 20, 2009
BUMPY ROADS

Tim and the Dietz Racing Team rolled into Trail-way Speedway for the first time in three weeks. With the track in the worst conditions that anyone in the 18d tralier could remember and 24 fast cars, Tim knew he had his work cut out for him for the night. Tim lined up 9th in the 1st set of two heats. He was determined to finish in the top 6th so he could keep his 12th starting spot for the feature. Tim drove high and low dodging major holes in the track and wheeled the 18d into the 5th finishing spot at the drop of the checkered flag. With a few adjustments to be made, Tim read his line ups for the feature, and was focused on getting the car upfront. He lined up 12th for the feature. The track continued to worsen through the night, but Tim was ready for the challenge. At the drop of the green flag, Tim was pushed to the high side, and lost some spots, but was very quick to maneuver the car back up where it belonged. With 6 laps to go Tim was running 10th and working hard to keep his position. On lap 19 there was a caution, and Tim was still in 10th. With a one lap shoot out and very eager racers running the top 3, coming off of turn 4 for the checkered flag there was a sever red flag brought out for the top 3 cars. The race was over with a checker/red flag. Tim finished up 6th for the night. Not how he wanted the night to end, and costing him points, Trail Ways decided to make the races a double points race. The entire 18d crew is looking forward to next week with cleaner racing and better track conditions.

THANK YOU ALL

Tim and the entire Dietz Racing Team would like to thank Dan Little, Trip Kone and all of those that put in the countless hours to make the 2009 3rd Annual PA 600 Speedweek Series possible. It is truely the greatest series ever developed for the 600 Micro's and we thank you. We will be there next year for the 4th Annual Series with out a doubt.

The entire team would also like to thank all of our family, friends and fans that came out and supported us this past week. We couldn't have done it without all of you.

SATURDAY, JULY 4, 2009
SPEEDWEEK STOP #5

Tim and Dietz Racing Crew made their last stop in Newmanstown, PA for Race #6 of the 2009 PA 600 Speedweek Series. The final race of the series was called Micro Mania and it was held at the tiny 1/8 mile Lanco Speedway. A track that we think is Magic Elm Skateland with Eldora Speedway banking. Its a fast little track with tons of beating and banging. Tim started the night off in the 6nd spot in heat race #7 and tried every groove in the book to manage his way up to a 4th place finish. In the pits the team made multiple changes due to the ill handling 18d. A track of this size is out of the norm for the Dietz Racing Team and getting the car to hook up was the challage of the week. In the second round of heats, Tim lined up 5th in heat #14 and was as high as 3rd, but got a little high on the last two laps and fell back to 6th at the finish line. The points total from the two rounds of heats put Tim in the 11th starting spot in the B-main with the top 6 transferring to the $5,000 to win A-Main. Again, Tim tried every groove on the dried out surface, but just couldn't find the right one. After 4 cautions and multiple near wrecking situations, Tim pulled the 18d into the pits to avoid anymore damages. Dietz was credited with 20th place. It just wasn't our night, but the team was happy with their overall results through the 5 races they entered. Tim and company finished 24th in the points race out of 143 total cars.

FRIDAY, JULY 3, 2009
SPEEDWEEK STOP #4

Tim and Dietz Racing Crew stopped in Jonestown, PA for Race #5 of the 2009 PA 600 Speedweek Series at Linda's Speedway. Tim lined up in the 2nd spot in heat race #5 and took the high lane straight to the lead and never looked back. Tim blew away the field and looked to be the car to beat on the cool summer night. Tied for 1st in points heading into the 2nd round of heats, the team knew that the 18d just needed to make a few passes to start on the front row of the A-Main. In heat race #12 Tim started in the 7th spot and got into trouble right away as a pile-up formed directly in front of him. Dietz had no where to go and the car got beat up enough to go straight to the pits. In the pits, the Dietz Racing team thrashed and rebounded the car to make it out for the start of the C-Main. In the C, Tim started in the 4th spot and needed to finish in the top 6 to advance to the B-Main. Tim once again took the high route and quickly grabbed the lead and ran 15 laps to the victory. Onto the B-main we went. In the B, Tim started in the 20th position and was looking to find a way to the 6th or better spot. Tim tried his popular Top Shelf move again and that groove seemed to have gone away. Five laps later, Dietz got a little to high and got caught and made contact with the wall which ened the night for the team. It was a rough ending to what was looking to be great night for the Dietz Racing Team. The team will bust their tails tomorrow in the parking lot of the Quality Inn and then they'll head to the Speedweek Race #6 at Lanco Speedway in Newmanstown, PA.

THURSDAY, JULY 2, 2009
SPEEDWEEK STOP #3

Tim and Dietz Racing Crew skipped Race #3 of the 2009 PA 600 Speedweek Series at Path Valley Speedway, but decided to visit Race #4 at Susquehanna Speedway. Tim lined up in the 6th spot in heat race #3 and took the high lane to a strong 3rd place at the checkers. Onto the next round of heats. In heat #6 Tim started in the 5th spot and ran the top shelf once again to another 3rd place finish. Between the two heats, Tim once again collected enough points to transfer into the A-main where he'd start in the 16th position. At the drop of the green, Tim ran the high line and seemed a bit slow at first. After a few laps into the race it was almost like a switch was flicked and like that the car was alive. Tim quickly worked his way into the top ten and before you knew it Dietz was rolling in the 3rd spot and looking for more, but simply ran out of laps. The team was thrilled on their finish and the team headed out to the track for photos and a interview.

SUNDAY, JUNE 28, 2009
SPEEDWEEK STOP #2

Tim and Dietz Racing Crew stopped by the famous Lincoln Speedway for Race #2 of the 2009 PA 600 Speedweek Series. Tim lined up in the 2nd spot in heat race #9 and quickly jumped out into the lead. Exiting turn four on the very last lap, the 18d was clipped from behind and was tossed back to 2nd place at the checkers. Back in the pits, the Dietz Racing crew quickly made the repairs and got the 18d ready to go for the next round of heats. In heat #19 Tim started in the 8th spot and ran the top shelf to a strong 3rd place finish. Between the two heats, Tim collected enough points to transfer into the A-main where he'd start in the 14th position. At the drop of the green, Tim ran the high line lap after lap. After moving up a few spots and then falling back, finally the car started to come in and the Dietz pick-off moves began. One caution restart later Tim slowed down in turns 3 and 4 and he brought his Probe racing chassis into the pits where the team found out that the clutch was toasted. Tim was credited with 22nd place. The team will skip the Speedweek Race #3 at the Path Valley Speedway, but will return to the 2009 PA 600 Speedweek Series for Race #4 at Susquehanna Speedway Park on Thursday, July 2, 2009. Gates open at 5 PM and racing starts at 7 PM. See you at the track.

SATURDAY, JUNE 27, 2009
SPEEDWEEK STOP #1

Tim and Dietz Racing Crew rolled into TW again this week to kick-off the 2009 PA 600 Speedweek Series. The team had high hopes of doing well since Trail-way Speedway was their home track, but the night didn't exactly go as planned. Tim lined up in the 7th spot in heat race #4 and finished 5th. In the second round of heats, Tim started 4th in heat race #11 and finished 3rd. The team then had to run in the B-main since their point total wasn't high enough to make the A-main transfer. In the B-main Tim started in the 10th spot and finished in 6th which was the last transfer spot. In the A-main the 18d started in the dead last 26th starting spot and drive the high line to a 16th place finish at the cross flags.

SATURDAY, JUNE 20, 2009
ALMOST BACK TO BACK

Tim and Dietz Racing Crew rolled into to the big TW again this week to build to their points lead and to see if maybe they could win back to back races. Tim lined up in the 8th spot in heat race #2 and ran the high line and picked off 5 spots to take a 3rd place finish. Making the transfer position, Tim would start from the 11th position in the A-main. In the A, Tim once again took the high groove as often as possible and capitalized on some restarts to find his way up to 2nd place with 7 laps to go. After trying a number of moves during those laps, Dietz was right there with one to go when the caution came out. Down one last try, on the restart Tim looked high and then dove low, but just didn't find the room as he settled in for a 2nd place finish at the cross flags.

SATURDAY, JUNE 13, 2009
VICTORY AT LAST

Tim and the very short staffed Dietz Racing Crew made their weekly stop at the TW on Saturday night with hopes of reeling in another top 5 night on the famed 1/3 mile oval. By nights end, Tim and the team consisting of Keith, Les and Dan did exactly that and more. Tim lined up in the 6th spot in heat race #2 and ran the high line to find himself in 2nd with 4 laps to go. After making a few attempts to take the lead, Dietz laid back and decided not to push the issue since the one position wouldn't help his feature start due to the handicap system. With his 2nd place finish, he would make the invert and start 11th in the A-main. At the drop of green Tim worked his way from the inside to the outside line and started operation pick-off when a tangle collected 4 cars in front of him. Luckily Dietz made it through and passed his way to 5th with turns 1 and 2. On the restart the hunt was on as Tim took his 18d to the high side and moved his way to 2nd by lap 5 and up into the lap by lap 7. By lap 10 Tim had almost a full straight away over the 2nd place car and Lap traffic was forcing Dietz to drive high and low until a lap 13 caution flew. From this point, the next 7 laps were simply a true test of survival as some heavy hitters were lined up right behind the 18d. As the Dietz Racing crews hearts were racing, so was Tim as he took what ended up being the perfectly set-up family 18d into victory lane for the first time since 2004. This win marked Tim's 14th career 600 win and he now stands one win away from being tied for all time wins at Trail-way Speedway.

After the race in victory lane Tim said, "Man I wasn't sure if we'd ever get back here again, but it sure feels good and this team deserves it. We drove for Little's Racing the past three years and it was a great time, but we decided to put our old team back together this year and its just been awesome. My friends, family and sponsors have put their heart and soul into doing this and doing this right. This is just real satisfaction to be here in victory lane. Most of the team is away on vacation right now, so I'm sad that they missed it. I guess we'll just have to do this again sometime when their here. My crew did an awesome job tonight and they had the set-up dead on and we really would like to make a habit of this. I'm also glad to get the victory bug off my back, its been 2 years since I've won a race so this feels great. I just wanna say thanks to all our sponsors, Gardy Enterprises, Brookmere Winery, The Dust Kitties, Baublitz's Heating and Cooling, Mark's Automotive, L&J Painting, Kess Body Shop, Arter Graphics, Wings Unlimited and BopsOnline.com".

SATURDAY, JUNE 6, 2009
SOAKED OUT

The TW officials threw in the towel and canceled Saturday night's racing due to Thursday and Friday's soaking rains. Dietz and company will hang out and stare at the car all week since its in race ready condition.

SATURDAY, MAY 30, 2009
PRESSURE DOWN

At the TW on Saturday night Tim and a partial Dietz Racing Crew were looking to follow-up last weeks stellar performance with another one. Twenty-two cars were at hand and Dietz would line up 9th out of 11 in Heat Race 1 of 2. At the drop of the green Tim looked to the high side, but the door was shut so down low he took the 18d for most of the 8 laps. At the end of what was the hardest Heat Race of the season, Tim would finish 5th. Making the invert he started in the 12th starting spot in the nights A-main. From the green flag till the checkered flag, there were multiple difficult situations that Tim would overcome, but the green flag runs just weren't long enough to get the heat in the tires to put some real threat on the top 5 drivers. In the final 5 laps the car seemed to just be off a bit and Tim faded a little and would settle for a 7th place finish at the cross flags. In the pits after the race, lead mechanic Les Baublitz noticed the left rear tire was really low. The tire had lost 75% of its air and that explained the fading of the car in the final laps. Running a car without air pressure is like trying to eat a hot dog without ketchup or mustard...it just doesn't work. The crew will review all the tires this week and will make sure that it never happens again.

SUNDAY, MAY 24, 2009
FIFTH AT THE SHOWDOWN

Back to Trail-way Speedway Dietz and company went on Sunday morning for the all day racing event #2 of 2 on the Memorial Day weekend. With Tim's 2nd place finish on Saturday night, he was locked into the feature and wouldn't have to run any of the days qualifying events except the dash. With only 52 cars in the pits, a lower car count then expected the $10,000 to win was down graded to a $5,800 to win grand prize. Tim and the Dietz Racing team watched racing all day long and only took a brief 3 lap warm-up session prior to the late evenings Super 600 Dash. The dash would determine the top 10 starting positions in the A-main. In the dash Tim lined up in the 3rd position and held his own the entire race and finished 3rd. Finally after 14 hours of waiting it was the 50 lap feature time. At the drop of the green Tim faded a little from his 3rd starting spot to 5th, but on the next turn made an awesome move into 2nd place and was in hot pursuit towards the leader when the yellow flag was tossed. A complete lap wasn't completed so the 18d was moved back to its original 3rd starting spot. Green flag again, and lap after lap Tim had his hands full trying to fight off multiple top notch drivers. Back and fourth position swapping went for the entire 50 laps. By the end, the Dietz Racing machine was sitting in the 5th spot at the checkered flag.

Tim and all of the Dietz Racing Team would like to give a big thanks to Trail-way Speedway, Jason Morrison and all of those that worked hard to make this weekend a success. Many countless hours were donated by multiple people and we're all very thankful. We'd also like to thank all the fans that supported all the race classes on the beautiful Memorial Day weekend. Lastly, we thank all of those brave individuals in the military that have given there lives to give us the freedom in this wonderful country. May god bless you all.

SATURDAY, MAY 23, 2009
SECOND IN NATIONALS OPENER

The Dietz racing crew pulled into the Trail-way Speedway pits bright and early on Saturday morning for Race #1 of 2 on the Memorial Day weekend Spring Nationals. Fifty total 600's were signed up to battle it out for the $1,000 to win Preliminary Race before Sundays Super 600 Showdown. Tim pulled pill #78 which threw him in the dead last starting position in heat race #3 of 6. From the 8th starting spot, Tim drove an awesome race and threw the 18d into some tight positions to pull in and take over the lead position. After 8 laps, Dietz picked up his 3rd heat race win of the season. With the win, Tim was automatically placed into the A-main in the 3rd starting position. At the beginning of the feature, Tim made some moves and drove his was into the second place spot and was hunting down the leader. Two caution flags later, the leader made a mistake and Dietz took the advantage along with a hard charging Mike Dicely. By lap 20, Tim and the 18d just couldn't catch Mike's car and the Dietz Team settled for 2nd place. Dietz and the entire crew were extremely happy with 2nd place and the 18d was locked into Sunday night's Super 600 Showdown

SATURDAY, MAY 16, 2009
ANOTHER TOP-TEN FINISH

Once again the threat of storms lingered over Trail-way Speedway on Saturday when the 18D pulled the car into the pits. Trail-ways was determined to race and so was the Dietz Racing Crew. With a low car count, Tim lined up 9th in the first of two heats. With the drop of the green flag, Tim was racing to the high side, but found it to not be working. He had to be patient, but knew he only had 8 short laps to get the car where it belonged. When the checkered dropped, Tim was sitting in the second spot. With a storm coming, and the winds blowing fiercely, he lined up 12th for the feature. At the beginning of the feature, Tim found himself diving in and out of accidents, and anxious to race without any cautions. On lap 13 Tim was sitting in the 7th spot and looking for 6th, but with another car driving into Tim he was forced to give up the spot. That’s when the threat of storms was no longer a threat, but the rain had started. The race was called on lap 15, Tim finished in the 7th spot. With the high side not working, the high winds, and rain, Tim was not pleased with the finish but glad the car was in one piece.

SATURDAY, MAY 2, 2009
RUNNER-UP AGAIN

Tim and company pulled into Trail-way Speedway on Saturday afternoon and wondered if mother nature would allow them to race. Rain was in the forecast, but it eventually fizzled out as the track staff was able to get the track in somewhat racing conditions. Tim started 9th in Heat Race two and did again what he does best. To the high side Tim headed and picked off 7 cars in turns one and two. By turns three and four, Tim was in the lead and never looked back as he drove to his second heat race win of the year. In the feature race, Tim lined up in the 10th starting spot and had plans of wasting no time at the drop of the green. When that happened a bunch of cars got tangled up in front of Tim and he dashed around all the obstacles and found himself in the 4th spot at the end of the red flag. On the next restart Dietz went high and drove into the 3rd spot. Ten straight laps later Dietz moved into the 2nd spot and fought the remainder of the race to take the lead, but simply ran out of time at the cross flags. Tim's third top-five finish of 2009 moves him into 1st place in points at Trail-way Speedway.

FLATTENED OUT

Hot was the weather on Saturday afternoon and so was the Dietz Racing Team by the end of the night. Tim started 7th in Heat Race one and made some great moves along the way to reach 2nd at the finish line. In the feature race, Dietz lined the 18d in the 12th starting position and was fighting for 7th place mid-way through the feature when a three car squeeze in turns 3 and 4 flattened Tim's right front tire and sent him into the wall a turn later. The track wrecker brought the 18d into the pits and the Dietz Racing Crew rushed to change the entire right front wheel, but until Tim got the car back to the track he was 15 seconds too late as the green flag was already dropped for the rest of the field. The 18d was credited with a 20th place finish to end the night.

At the trailer after the race, the steaming Team looked over the car and realized that it was probably best that they didn't get Tim and the car back out onto the track in time. Multiple steering componets were bent from the impact of the wall and may have caused more problems for Dietz out on the track. A flustered, but calm Tim said..."it was just one of those racing deals. Sometimes you make it through those situations and sometimes you don't. Its all apart of the game. We'll fit it up this week and give it another 110% effort next week".

RUNNING THE HIGH LINE

It was the best weather we've seen so far this year on Saturday at Trail-way Speedway. It was a warm and sunny 75 degrees at the track and the Dietz Racing Team was loving it up in their new Crew shirts. The confident and proud Crew gave Tim the perfect set-up for Heat Race #1. Dietz started in the 6th spot and wasted no time getting to the front. Tim ran his 18d in the high line and picked off 4 cars between turns 1 and 2 on lap one. By lap 4 Dietz picked off the top spot and then blew away the field by 3.245 seconds at the finish line. It was the Team's first Heat Race victory of the season and smiles were all around the trailer as Tim pulled into the pits after crossing the scales. With the handicapping format, Tim would start no worst than 12th in the A-main.

Once intermission was complete, the starting grid was posted and the 18d would launch from the 10th outside position. At the drop of the green, Tim used the same idea as he did in his heat race and headed for the high line as he picked off 6 cars in 4 laps and was continuing to charge very hard. With a few early race cautions, the momentum for Tim slowed down a little bit, but a 7 lap green flag run late in the race gave Dietz enough time to regain heat in the tires to move his way up to the 3rd spot at the double checkers.

In the pits, at the tech station, an excited Tim said, "it was another great run for us. We had a great run going early in the race and if we didn't get interrupted with a few quick cautions the outcome might have been a little better for us. We'll take 3rd place though and we'll continue to build off of these top 5 finishes. We should move up in points this week again and we're all very happy about that. The bottom line is that we're here to have fun, and thats exactly what we've been doing".

RAIN WINS 2ND OF THE YEAR

A long soaking rain late Friday night through early Saturday afternoon forced the Trail-way Speedway officials to cancel the second attempt of the $1000 to win Pro Series race on Saturday afternoon. Dietz and company will give Hanover's 1/3 mile another try next Saturday night. Gates open at 4 P.M. and racing will start at 6:30 P.M. See you at the track.

DIETZ TAKES A STRONG 2ND

It was a bright and sunny day all around for the Dietz Racing Team. Coming off a great 8th place finish last time out the Team was determined to improve this week and march their way to the front. It was Trail-way Speedway's first night race of the season and there were thirty-three 600's packed in the pits at the 1/3 famed mile track.

Tim went out for warm-ups and made some good laps and returned to the pits with two thumbs up and a car covered in mud. With a good soaking rain the day before, the track had quite a bit of moisture. The Dietz Racing crew quickly cleaned up the car and made some quick and subtle changes just in time for Tim to start in Heat Race #2. From the 5th starting position Tim fought hard and climbed his way up to 3rd in the blinding sun. Tim and the rest of the top 7 advanced and everyone else went to the B-main.

Onto the A-main we go. Tim lined up in the 8th starting spot and from the drop of the green he charged the 18d forward; picking off one by one. By the 10th lap, Dietz was up to 4th and looking for more. After a caution, Tim continued to battle it out with the 2nd and 3rd place car and finally on the 16th lap Tim saw a opening and took the 18d down low in turn 2 and made a two car pass up into the 2nd position. From there Tim ran the doors off the red, white and blue Probe sprinter, but simply ran out of time while trying to catch the leader as the team took a proud and strong 2nd place finish.

In the pits, at the tech station, an excited Tim said, "that was awesome! I'm very proud of everyone on this team and every week we keep getting better and better. I'm very excited to see what the rest of this season brings...man that was fun!"

Next Saturday night, we'll give the $1000 to Win PRO Series another try after getting rained out 2 weeks ago. Gates open at 4 P.M. and racing will start at 6:30 P.M. See you at the track

RAIN WASHES OUT WEEKEND

The Dietz Racing Team made it through the mud on Saturday morning at Trail-way Speedway along with an unknown amount of other 600's for the first race of the 2009 PRO Series. After a few hours of track prep, Trail-way Officials decided that it was simply too wet to get the track in safe racing conditions. They made the call around 12:30 P.M. and said they'd give it another shot on Sunday, but with long soaking rains all Saturday night the track was forced to cancel again. (rescheduled for April 11th) The team will clean up the equipment this week and prepare for night racing which will start this Saturday.

JUST LIKE THE GOOD OLD DAYS

Tim Dietz and company hit up Trail-way Speedway along with 49 other 600's on Saturday for Week #2 of the 2009 season and this time the game faces were on. After a rough around the edges week one, the Team spent countless hours over the 6 day break making the 18d a finely tuned machine. From the second the car was rolled out of the trailer everything went as smooth as possible. If there was anything to complain about at that point, it was just the fact that Tim pulled pill #94 out of 100 which landed him in a last place starting spot for his qualifying Heat Race.

Without any remorse, Tim headed out for Heat Race number 2 and lined up in the 10th and final starting spot. Only the top 4 cars would advance to the A-main and all others would go to the consi races. Tim from the drop of the green wasted no time as he took his 600cc to the top side and gracefully picked off one car after another. By the final lap, Dietz had worked his way up to the 4th position and held onto it at the checkered flag for the final qualifying spot.

With the 4th place finish, Tim didn't have a re-draw option and would start on the inside row 17th starting spot out of 24 total cars. With the high line out of the question at this point in the day, Tim knew he'd have to hug the track low for most of the 20 laps and beat his opponents on the straights then into the turns. Dietz did that all race long while avoiding multiple crashing obstacles along the way. As the race went on, the tires on the 18d started to heat up and the pick-offs continued up to the 8th position. Tim continued to gain on more cars, but time simply ran out as the checkers were dropped concluding the event.

After the race Tim said..."it was a great rebound race for us today. My crew and I really needed this and we had a blast doing it. It really reminded us of the old 18d days and we're all happy to be in a position like that again. We will build off of this top 10 and we hope to improve next week in the $1000 to win Pro Series race. Its been a while since we've visited victory lane and next week would be a great day to return there."

Tim and the Dietz Racing Team thanks all of you that stopped by and supported the team on Saturday for Week #2 of the 2009 Racing Season.

2009 OPENING DAY BLUES

The countdown is over and the official kickoff of the 2009 racing season is here and gone. Tim and the Dietz Racing Team arrived at Trail-way Speedway at a bright and early 9:30 AM along with 42 other 600's to make sure everything was set and in place by the 12 PM warm-ups. Right off the bat the morning prep started off a little rough, but with some kind help from some other racers in the pits, the car was ready to go by the time warm-up sessions were called. Out on the track Tim gave the car a good test since the chassis and all the components were new to the team. In the pits after warm-ups the team rushed to make multiple changes due to a ill handling 18d. After gearing, throttle and some steering changes were made Tim headed out for Heat Race number 3. Starting from the 6th position Tim worked his way up to the 4th spot and was showing signs of making it to 3rd, but got the car a bit high in turn 4 and settled for 4th place at the checkered flag. Back into the pits came Tim with a thumbs up as he was very pleased with the changes that were made to the car, but made the team aware of a few little things to touch on before the feature. The team then installed the proper tires and topped off the fuel. In the A-main Tim lined up in the 15th starting spot out of 24 cars. The green flag dropped and Tim got aggressive in turn one and tried to pick up 2 spots and thats when the day went downhill. Dietz slightly clipped the infield retaining tire and shot up and spun out collecting 8 other cars. Multiple suspension parts including the frame were all screwed up and the wrecker had to lift the 18d back into the pits. The team analyzed the car and decided their day was over. The team held their heads high, and will get the car back in order again for next Saturdays race.

THE 18D WINGLESS WONDER

Shorty after the plans for 2009 were announced, the Dietz Racing Team were made aware of a Black Friday Indoor race that they had to attend. The team advanced their car search a bit any quicky found one, and branded it just in time. The wingless ROC Event at the PA Farm Show Complex and Expo Center was a 2 day show paying $1,000 Night #1 and $5,000 on Night #2. Sound too good to be true? Well, it was and the race was canceled two days prior to the kickoff. The reason is neither here nor there, it could have been due to the lack luster economy. The end result was their was one sweet race car sitting in the garage with no clay to make left hand turns on. So we took some really nice photos and then toor the car back apart to prepare for the 2009 Season Opener at Trail-way Speedway on March 14th.
Check out the pics on the Photos page. Merry Christmas and have a Happy and safe New Years from the Dietz Racing family to yours.
